Greetings! My name is Dawn Pace and I am a Long Islander now living in Rome, NY. I am an acrylic wildlife painter and refer to myself as a Quarantine Artist. While the whole world shut down due to COVID I found my true calling. It was out of desperation of suddenly having to juggle becoming my child with special needs' teacher, peer, therapists and advocate all while maintaining a remote full time job. I needed an outlet for the mounting stress I was under. Crafts have always brought me joy and peace throughout my life. Painting with acrylics would allow my creativity to flow and be able to be done from home in the evenings. Since I have a strong passion for wildlife I knew what my subject would be. I researched online and found an artist whose realism style I love and she was willing to share her skills. I immediately fell in love with layering acrylic paints on the canvas. This process allows me to create textures and vivid details with bright colors. I create and share my artwork so that others can look into the soul of these beautiful animals. By focusing on a specific trait like the determination of an owl ready to catch its prey or the playfulness of a sea creature frolicking in the ocean, my goal is to reach my client's heart and soul. I especially love to capture each animal's unique expressions through their eyes. It is through the eyes we can see ones soul.
